How many days till hockey starts again?

I was making myself a grilled cheese sandwich tonight. I was hungry so why not, right? As I turned it over to brown the other side I could not believe my eyes! There on my grilled cheese was the image of Michael Jackson!!! WOW! I will sell this item for $1000. Any takers?

OK, that didn’t really happen, but it was good for a laugh!

Now on to more important things: hockey. I cannot wait for the new season to begin! With all of the free agent dealings that started on July 1st, I am already eager to watch the games again. Here in Phoenix, those of us that are hockey fans have been watching the news closely. The current owner of our local team, the Coyotes, tried to file for bankruptcy in order to be able to sell the team to someone who wanted to relocate them to Canada. We have been following the proceedings the best that we can considering that our local news just doesn’t seem to want to do any stories about hockey. I usually find most of the information from a Canadian news site. So far, it appears that the Yotes will be here in the desert for at least 1 more season. Hooray for us!

While I am glad that I will have the opportunity to see some live games this year (hopefully I can afford 1 or 2), I can’t say the Coyotes are my favorite team. I will always be loyal to the Toronto Maple Leafs. I know, I can hear the jeering from some already, but that doesn’t bother me. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they will do some major dealings this summer and will start off the new season on the right skate.

The Leafs REALLY need to sign a goalie. Toskala is good, but with his surgery at the end of last season, he is going to need some help. I would love to see them resign Curtis Joseph, but realistically, I think CuJo’s time is done. He was a favorite of mine and I will hate not being able to see him play again if he ends up retiring.

I will keep watching and waiting. The NHL is the only major league sport that I enjoy (other than NASCAR) so I don’t have much to distract me from counting down the days till the first exhibition game is played. Then I know it won’t be much longer till the regular season begins.

The countdown starts NOW!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY EVERYONE! I HOPE YOU HAVE A SAFE AND ENJOYABLE WEEKEND!Photobucket
